God is gathering a group of "power souls" for me to work with.
Together, we are going to do some heavy spiritual weight lifting.
We want to change the world. We are group of intrepid spirits.
Wayne Washington is one of us.
I am devoted to Wayne, because Wayne is devoted to everyone. He ardently loves people and is always looking to....
"lift them up."
----------
"Lifting up" did not come easy to Wayne.
When he was young, his bones were so brittle that when he tried to lift something up,
his bones would break.
He was born with what is known as Brittle Bone Disease (Osteogenesis Imperfecta).
He spent the first 12 years of his life in a hospital.
He fractured 35 bones by the time he was 16.
-----------
But 16 was a special age.
That was the year Wayne attended a disabled sporting event, where he saw some Vietnam Veterans in a weightlifting competition.
Why a man with this disease would want to lift weights.... I have no idea, but God works in mysterious ways.
By 1984 Wayne had become a world class weight lifter.
At the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992, Wayne was favored to win Gold.
He didn't, but a year later, in 1993...

he came back strong to win Gold at the World Championships.
Himself, weighing in at 112 pounds, Wayne bench pressed 285 pounds!
It was after the world championships that he decided to devote his life to God and mankind.
That was over 10 years ago, and though there have been many struggles, he has not wavered.
-------
Wayne now has devoted himself to inspirational speaking.
Wherever Wayne goes, he inspires people.
He does not make much of living yet, but one day I feel sure he will. In fact I am determined to help make that happen.
I met Wayne for the first time in the parking lot of a supermarket near his apartment in Orange County.
Wayne seemed to know everyone who walked by. To each of them, he poured out love and encouragement.
I quickly realized that Wayne was the real spiritual deal. He was inspiration in action.
He does not wait for a stage to perform. I want to say he walks his talk, but wayne doesn't walk.
Physically, he rolls himself in his wheelchair.
But spiritually, he floats. Spiritually Wayne is a powerhouse being.
-------
Wayne will be sharing and inspiring throughout the weekend of the August Free Festival.
I hope you come to meet him. He will change your life.
